Joyathon
Sat. May 5, 10 am – 1 pm
Mark your calendar for a morning of fun. After the children ride, we will
have lunch (a choice of Indian or mac & cheese) and a little carnival
afterwards. Go Fish and face painting are always popular. Making a debut
this year is henna hand-painting.

Isabella
Volunteers Needed to run carnival booths. Please let Usha or Sandy Pagano
know if you are willing to serve.
Pre-school, pre-K, and Kindergarten
Kathleen (Prasanna) Hankins is now helping Helen on Wednesdays (the day
Helen has the most students) and Trina on Thursdays. On Tuesdays, Trina’s
assistant is Sara Ponce.
The children continue to find the dirt, the bugs, and the lily leaves
fascinating. The new fad is “make your own kite.” Beads have
finally taken a back seat to other activities. A zoo trip is coming up
soon, and a unit on pets.
Junior High Trip for Fun and Service
The junior high boys will be leaving April 22 for a field trip to California
parks. They will be joining students from the Nevada City, CA, Living
Wisdom School at Big Sur. On April 28 they go to Yosemite where they will
give 2 ½ days service to the park and then have 3 ½ days
hiking and rock climbing. They will return for the Joyathon May 5 (along
with their teacher, Sandi Goodwin!).
Have you seen the great trellis the boys built by Angel House? They also
planted a climbing rose and a grapevine. Thanks, guys.

Primary Class to Solve a Mystery
Welcome to new student Karl Gieben, a third grader. The primary class
is wrapping up their wetland unit and will be doing a detective science
unit next. Tuesday the children read their wetland animal reports to parents
and then tested them on their listening skills!

Intermediate Class
The fifth and sixth grades tutor the first graders once a week and they
help out in pre-school, for instance, when the children bake.
They also went with the junior high to environmental lobby day in Salem.
Along with adults from the districts where they live, they met with their
representatives to discuss issues such as clean water and air. Two of
our students were chosen as spokespersons for their groups!
